Bill Wade has been both a senior manager and a creator of training programs in the National Park Service from which he retired after 34 years of Federal service. He has specialized in employee and organizational development, leadership, performance management, team-building, and customer service training. Bill has more than 2000 hours of classroom and field teaching experience in a variety of subjects and has provided training to a number of public sector and non-profit organizations in the United States and internationally.
His experience includes more than 18 years of line management in several of our country's major National Parks. He has been the Superintendent of one of the two NPS National Training Centers and a staff training specialist at the other one. He has served as an advisor or on loan to the Park Systems of Russia, Greece, New Zealand, Trinidad/Tobago, Abu Dhabi, and the Kingdom of Jordan.
Bill has also served more than 30 years in Board of Director and Officer positions for several non-profit organizations. He has testified frequently before Congress on a variety of environmental, organizational and management issues.
Bill is one of the original organizers of the International Ranger Federation and has organized international conferences of Park Rangers in several foreign countries. In addition, he has been the lead meeting planner for several non-profit organizations in the United States since 1982. He has performed site selection work, negotiated contracts and managed conferences in venues ranging from National Park lodges to luxury resorts and international conference centers.
Bill holds a B.A. in Business Administration and Biological Sciences from Fort Lewis College, Durango Colorado. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Department of Interior's Distinguished Service and Meritorious Service Awards; and was the National Park Service's Superintendent of the Year for Natural Resources Management in 1992. He also received the Stephen T. Mather Award from the National Parks Conservation Association that year.
