Mike Edrington retired from the US Forest Service after 38 years. He held a variety of positions as agency administrator and fire management officer. His last assignment was as the Regional Fire and Aviation Director for the combined Pacific Northwest Regional and State offices of BLM and Forest Service. Ten years as a single resource leader; twelve years as a Type 1 and 2 Incident Commander, command and general staff; twenty-nine years as a member of a National Area Command Team; sixteen years as a National Area Commander and 26 years as a MAC Group Coordinator. Currently a member of National Area Command Team 3.
He has extensive experience in the development and instruction of national incident management, coordination, leadership and inter agency courses for emergency services agencies and exercise design and facilitation. Forty years as lead instructor for NWCG, EMI, and NFA courses including Advanced Incident Management and Area Command; Command and General Staff; the AHIMT course; Advanced Incident Management for Agency Administrators; Instructor and Course Coordinator for Multi Agency Coordination Groups; I-100 through I-400; Incident Leadership; ICS position courses in Command, Planning, Operations and Logistics. His interests are organizational and employee development, effectiveness and team dynamics, leadership, innovative thinking, and decision making under stress.

Graduate from Colorado State University with a major in Forest Recreation and the Colorado Law Enforcement Academy. Graduate work from Utah State University.
