Roy Johnson former Director, Office of Wildland Fire for the Department of the Interior coordinated wildland fire management programs within the Department and with other federal and non-federal partners. Prior to his work as Director of the Office of Wildland Fire, Roy served in numerous leadership positions for the Department of the Interior, and the Bureau of Land Management in Fire Management and Emergency Response. Roy has over 40 years experience on Type 1 and Type 2 Incident Command Teams and Area Command in Command, Operations and Planning in the management of incidents related to fire, earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, 911 response to terrorist attack, and pandemic disease. Qualified as an Area Commander, Assistant Area Commander for Planning and Logistics, Type 1 Incident Commander, Operations Section Chief and Planning Section Chief.
Thirty five years lead instructor for NWCG, EMI, and NFA courses outlined as: Advanced Incident Management and Area Command; Command and General staff; Advanced Fire Management, AHIMT course, Advanced Incident Leadership for Agency Administrators, C&G for Local IMT's ; Instructor and Course Coordinator for Multi Agency Coordination Groups. Instructor for I-100 through, I-400, L-280, ICS for Executives and ICS position courses in: Command, Operations, Planning and Logistics. Exercise design and facilitation. Roy has led and participated in numerous response exercises such as Top off, Eagle Horizon Exercise, and developed and lead table top exercises. Member of the Member, National Wildfire Suppression Association, AHIMT Association and National Emergency Management Association.
